Koerner Outstanding Student Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers honor society, Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN). Long is a professor of chemistry and has served on S&T’s faculty since 1968. He received the award in recognition of his “high-level works and outstanding contributions to physical chemistry and chemical physics using the Mössbauer effect.”
