Chancellor’s holiday reception Dec. 16

Staff Council is teaming up with Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader in an effort to “can hunger.” On Monday, Dec. 16, Chancellor Schrader and her husband, Jeff Schrader, will host a holiday reception for S&T faculty and staff members. Visitors are encouraged to bring a canned food item to the reception.

Drop by between 9-11 a.m. or 1-3 p.m. at the Chancellor’s Residence, 506 W. 11th St., and help “can hunger.” Received items will help support local food pantries.

Accounting/fiscal services relocation

Accounting and fiscal services, which includes accounting, cashiers and student loan collections, will temporarily relocate to the third floor of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library beginning Tuesday, Dec. 17. The relocation will last approximately four weeks due to the HVAC renovations in Parker Hall.

Library intersession hours

Curtis Laws Wilson Library will have special hours during the winter intersession. The library will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from Sunday, Dec. 15, through Sunday, Jan. 19. The library will be closed on Christmas, Wednesday, Dec. 25, and New Year’s, Wednesday, Jan. 1. Normal service hours will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Nominate distinguished students

The Joe Mooney Distinguished Student Award recognizes leadership and service by S&T students who are in their sophomore or junior years. One award is given to an outstanding member of a recognized student organization; another is given to an outstanding officer of a recognized student organization. Selected students will each receive $200 from the Miner Alumni Association. The nomination deadline is Monday, March 31, 2014. Nominate students on the alumni website.

Alpha Sigma Mu calendars

Alpha Sigma Mu is selling calendars containing the many interesting images material’s scientists can obtain from different microscopy techniques. Calendars are $10 each and can be purchased from Denise Eddings’ office in Room 222 McNutt Hall. The calendars are for anyone who enjoys seeing the artistic aspects of science and engineering.
