Representatives from over 200 companies will be on hand to recruit students at the Missouri S&T Career Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the Gale Bullman Building. The Career Fair is open to S&T students between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Faculty and staff may attend 8-9 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. For more information, contact 341-6170 or career@mst.edu.

Northcut earns CCCC award

Dr. Kathryn Northcut, an associate professor of English and technical communication, earned the 2015 “Best Original Collection of Essays in Technical or Scientific Communication” award from the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) for the book Designing Texts: Teaching Visual Communication. Northcut co-edited the book with Dr. Eva Brumberger, associate professor and director of the Professional Writing program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), in 2013.

Faculty meeting to review ‘clickers’

Missouri S&T faculty will meet with educational technology to discuss the current and future state of “clickers” on campus. Faculty input is needed for discussion, evaluation and ultimately the determination of how best to continue using “clickers” at Missouri S&T. The meeting will be held noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the Meramec-Gasconade Room of the Havener Center.

Testing Center policies

Students and faculty requiring alternate test times, make-up exams or other testing arrangements are asked to notify the Testing Center at least seven business days before the test date. The Testing Center will no longer accept same-day testing requests. Students must make arrangements with both faculty and the Testing Center. Faculty members are reminded to submit a Faculty Test Request Form. This form should be completed when students request alternative testing arrangements, including make-up exams. Testing Center hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fridays. The Testing Center provides a secured, monitored and reduced-distraction testing environment for students, faculty and staff. For more information, contact the Testing Center at 341-4222.

ERC open house Feb. 6

The Environmental Research Center (ERC) invites the campus community to an open house at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The activities and capabilities related to environmental research at Missouri S&T will be on display. As the campus community looks to increase cross-campus collaborations and integrate a variety of expertise, the center is offering a sampler-platter of its current expertise, ongoing projects and analytic capabilities to better develop campus collaborations.
