Funeral arrangements for Betty Eyberg

Betty Eyberg, a strong supporter of Missouri S&T and a longtime Miner Alumni Association volunteer, died Monday, March 2. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Christ Episcopal Church, 1000 Main St. in Rolla. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Mrs. Eyberg was the wife of the late Walbridge P. Eyberg, a 1950 chemical engineering graduate of Missouri S&T.

Lecture on Wednesday to include piano performances

Dr. Deborah Rambo Sinn, the 2015 Maxwell C. Weiner Distinguished Professor of Humanities, will present a lecture titled “The Artist Prepares: Music, Scores and Decision Making” noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in Room 138 Castleman Hall. Sinn will discuss the process of study from the beginning of learning notes to developing a unique and “good taste” performance. The hour will include brief performances of various works for piano.

ERC lecture to examine sediment in Missouri

Dr. Robert T. Pavlowsky, director of the Ozarks Environmental and Water Resources Institute at Missouri State University, will present a lecture titled “Legacy sediment waves in channel and floodplain deposits of the Big River, SE Missouri” at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, in Room 314 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The lecture is sponsored by Missouri S&T’s Environmental Research Center.

Free travel to the March 2 forum

Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader and Dr. Robert Marley, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, plan to attend an upcoming public forum to discuss potential job cuts at Fort Leonard Wood and encourage the campus community to join them. The forum will be held Monday, March 2, at Fort Leonard Wood’s Nutter Field House. USA Tours has donated a bus to take campus members to the forum. The bus will leave the Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce office at 4:15 p.m. that Monday. The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. U.S. Sens. Claire McCaskill and Roy Blunt will each speak, as will state Rep. Vicky Hartzler, state Sen. Dan Brown and state Rep. Steve Lynch.

A retirement reception in his honor will be held 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A of the Havener Center. Flags at half-staff effective immediately

By order of Gov. Jay Nixon, all flags at Missouri state and government offices will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset effective immediately in honor of State Auditor Thomas A. Schweich, who died today. The order shall remain in effect until sunset on the date of his interment, which will be announced at a future time.
