The global learning staff will host an opportunity for you to join a departmental service project 3-5 p.m. in the lobby of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library on the following dates:

Take a “brain break” and stop by to learn about making “plarn” (plastic yarn) from recycled plastic shopping bags, and turning them into sleeping mats for homeless individuals. This is a drop-in event; there are no fees and all supplies will be provided.

Do you want to learn more about nature and help others learn, too? If so, you may want to join the Missouri Master Naturalist program sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation and University of Missouri Extension. Learn about the program at an orientation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at the Department of Natural Resources’ Mozarkite Conference Room at 1251 Gale Drive in Rolla.

A memorial service for Molly Mills will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Ridgeview Christian Church, located at 806 Ridgeview Road in Rolla. No graveside services are planned.

University of Missouri System President Mun Y. Choi will present the system’s budget plan for fiscal year 2018 and beyond during a presentation at 1 p.m. Friday, June 2, on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. The presentation will be live streamed at 1 p.m. Friday, June 2, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall, and members of the Missouri S&T community are encouraged to attend. Faculty, staff and students may also watch the address via a live stream (the link will be available on www.umsystem.edu/president/budget_planning) on the device of their choice.

Dr. Richard W. Wlezien, the Vance and Arlene Coffman Endowed Department Chair in Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University and a former researcher and program director at NASA and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), has been named vice provost and dean of Missouri S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing. University of Missouri System’s accounts payable shared services team will present “Employee Reimbursements in Travel and Expense Module” during two sessions Monday, June 12, in Room 235 Engineering Management Building. The training is designed for employees who work directly with these transactions, approve them or supervise employees who do. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
