PLACE office to close due to budget

Missouri S&T’s Office of Professional Leadership and Campus Engagement (PLACE) will close, effective Sunday, Dec. 31, due to budget reductions. Leadership staff members within the Division of Student Affairs, along with some student representatives, are reviewing programming and services provided by PLACE to determine which will be continued in the spring 2018 semester and beyond.

Changes announced for mindfulness stress reduction program

Missouri S&T’s mindfulness-based stress reduction meditation program has been affected by recent changes. Due to budget reductions, the University of Missouri System’s Total Rewards program will not fund the eight-week, in-person class previously offered on Missouri S&T’s campus. Online versions of the class are available.

Tickets available for William Shatner’s Sunday show

Missouri S&T’s Leach Theatre will host a performance of William Shatner’s one-man show “Shatner’s World” on Sunday, Oct. 29. The performance, which is part of the 2017-18 Leach Theatre Special Performance Series, will begin at 2 p.m. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the show.

Tickets for the show are $80 and available at the Leach Theatre Box Office in Castleman Hall. The box office is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Get more information.

Last call to see Shakespeare in St. Louis

Dr. Anne Cotterill, associate professor of English and technical communication, is organizing a group visit to St. Louis’ Repertory Theatre to see a production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet Saturday, Nov. 4. Scare up some fun at staff event on Halloween

Employees work hard and Staff Council wants to say “thanks” at an appreciation event for staff 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Puck. Come enjoy snacks and hot drinks by a campfire, bring a decorated or carved pumpkin for a contest and dress up for a costume contest. The event will also include prize drawings and games.

Cookie dough sales end today

Miner Challenge Alternative Break students are selling homemade cookie dough to fund alternative break experiences. The dough costs $10 for 32 ounces of chocolate chip or peanut butter chip dough, and $8 for 32 ounces of sugar dough.
