Academic advising conference series starts in February

The office of undergraduate studies offers a series of advising development sessions for Missouri S&T advisors to help students succeed. The Spring 2018 series will include the following presentations, all scheduled at noon-1:30 p.m. in the Meramec-Gasconade Room of the Havener Center:

  • “Understanding and Engaging Today’s Students,” presented by Dr. Patti J. Fleck, director of counseling services, on Monday, Feb. 5
  • “MyDegree: The New Degree Planning Tool,” presented by Julie Parker, assistant registrar, on Monday, March 5
  • “Success for Calculus – It’s Time for Data,” presented by Paul Runnion, associate teaching professor of mathematics, on Monday, April 16

Faculty workshop focuses on student engagement for distance learners

Faculty and staff instructors are invited to a workshop, “Student Engagement at a Distance,” 12:15-1:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in St. Pat’s C of the Havener Center. Lunch will be provided. Jan. 15 observatory event cancelled due to weather

The Monday, Jan. 15, scheduled viewing of the Orion Nebula at the S&T Observatory has been cancelled. The event was scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. Future S&T Observatory events are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 19; Thursday, March 22; Monday, April 9, Monday, April 23; and Wednesday, May 9. Read more.

Missouri S&T closes early; staff can leave work for the day

Due to deteriorating weather conditions, Missouri S&T is closing early today (Thursday, Jan. 11). Employees may leave at 4 p.m. unless asked to stay by their supervisor. University Police will remain open 24/7. Some facility crew members will remain on campus to treat parking lots, driveways and sidewalks. Tonight’s basketball games against Truman State University at Gale Bullman are not cancelled.

The leadership team will monitor weather conditions overnight and make a determination by 7 a.m. on whether the campus will be closed tomorrow Friday, Jan. 12. If the campus will be closed, you will receive a text or phone call from Missouri S&T’s mass notification system.
