Oct. 1 is deadline for student commencement speaker applications
Graduating seniors, master’s degree students and Ph.D. students from each college are encouraged to apply for selection as a student speaker for their Winter 2018 commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 15. The speakers, who are selected through an application process and competition, must be members of the graduating class they plan to address.

Guides needed for STEM girls’ conference
Women are needed to volunteer as group guides for attendees of the 19th annual Expanding Your Horizons conference, which will be held Friday, Oct. 5, at S&T. The conference introduces seventh- and eighth-grade girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. The event brings more than 450 Missouri students to campus.

The Grant Training Center will host a professional grant development workshop 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, and Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Room S016 of Memorial Union at the University of Missouri-Columbia. An online version of the workshop will be held Wednesday, Oct. 24.
