The Joe Mooney Distinguished Student Award recognizes leadership and service by S&T students who are in their sophomore or junior years. One award is given to an outstanding member of a recognized student organization; another is given to an outstanding officer of a recognized student organization. Selected students will each receive $200 from the Miner Alumni Association. The nomination deadline is Monday, March 31, 2014. Nominate students on the alumni website.

Alpha Sigma Mu is selling calendars containing the many interesting images material’s scientists can obtain from different microscopy techniques. Calendars are $10 each and can be purchased from Denise Eddings’ office in Room 222 McNutt Hall. The calendars are for anyone who enjoys seeing the artistic aspects of science and engineering.

The office of undergraduate studies will temporarily move to a new location due to office renovations. Starting Monday, Dec. 16, the department will be located in the mezzanine area of the Interdisciplinary Engineering Building. The move will last until Friday, Jan. 10. Phone numbers for the department will remain the same.

The campus calendar is another way to increase turnout to your event. Submit your entries to the calendar. It is a quick and easy way to spread the word about campus events.

Miners’ Golf Course has an opportunity to publicly showcase the creative skills of the Missouri S&T campus community. The course is offering the chance to design and build tee box signs that feature the talents of any campus department or group, while displaying course information in a visually appealing manner. This opportunity is open to any Missouri S&T department, student group or other campus organization.

Miner Challenge Alternative Spring Break is a finalist in a video competition sponsored by Liberty Mutual. They have a chance to win a $2,000 grant, but only if you vote for them. Voting is open until Sunday, Dec. 8, so be sure to vote and tell others to support Miner Challenge’s video.

The registrar’s office will move locations to Rooms 305 and 307 Norwood Hall, starting on Monday, Dec. 9. The move is part of HVAC renovations taking place in Parker Hall. The registrar’s office is expected to remain in their new location until Friday, Jan. 10.

Staff Council’s GRACE for Christmas food and toy drive has ended and the totals are in. S&T raised $330 from engineering management and systems engineering’s Chili Cook-Off, $350 in donations from all faculty and staff and between 45 and 50 boxes of food and toys donated.
