Miner women’s basketball team plays Indianapolis this afternoon

Capping off a weekend of Missouri S&T basketball, the women’s team will play Indianapolis this afternoon at 4 p.m. in a rescheduled game. The game takes place at Gibson Arena. Admission to all S&T students, faculty and staff is free. .

Register for child sex trafficking documentary, discussion

The student diversity Initiatives welcomes the Central Missouri Stop Human Trafficking Coalition to S&T for a free showing of Hope Road, a documentary about child sex trafficking at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, in Bertelsmeyer Hall. A Q&A session with the producer and director will follow the screening. Dinner will be provided.

ACUE Lunch and Learn Series begins next week

The first in a monthly series of lunchtime sessions focused on what was learned by program participants will take place at noon Thursday, Jan. 27 on Zoom.

The session, “How do Students Learn? and Information About the Writing Center” will be presented by Dr. Merilee Krueger, teaching professor of psychological science, and Phillip Bode, program manager of student support services in the Writing Center.

Testing and student disability services is now student accessibility and testing (SAT)

Effective Jan. 1, S&T’s testing and student disability services became student accessibility and testing (SAT). The name was changed to better reflect the department’s role in partnering with students, faculty and staff to address disability-related barriers, ensure recognition of students’ abilities and facilitate access to learning opportunities across S&T.

Bettie Mae Fikes visits S&T on Thursday

Celebrated civil rights icon Bettie Mae Fikes will speak Thursday, Jan. 20, as part of S&T’s Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall; a reception with light refreshments begins at 6 p.m. in the Castleman Hall lobby. Admission to the event is a non-perishable or canned food item.

Register for three-minute thesis competition by Feb. 1

The seventh annual three-minute thesis (3MT) competition takes place Wednesday, Feb. 23, and Thursday, Feb. 24, with the finale on Tuesday, March 1. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 1. 3MT is a competition for graduate students to develop and showcase research communication skills. The winner will have the opportunity to compete at the regional event in Milwaukee in April.
