First responder training to be held at Campus Support Facility
The Rolla Police Department and Rolla Fire & Rescue will be conducting training exercises Friday and Saturday, June 17-18, on the first floor of the Campus Support Facility. Do not be alarmed if you see a large police presence in the area during this time.

The Missouri S&T campus will be closed Monday, June 20, for all but essential operations in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Juneteenth, short for “June Nineteenth,” commemorates the effective end of slavery in America and was declared a federal holiday in 2021.

Enrollment for the first week of summer 2022 classes at Missouri S&T was 2,131. The summer semester at Missouri S&T began on Monday, June 6. The summer 2021 enrollment was 2,077.

Student well-being is hosting “What We Say and How We Listen” on Thursday, June 30. This training is for university employees and is focused on how the language we use shapes the trajectory of our conversations. Topics that will be covered include person and identity first language, LGBTQIA+ affirming language, active listening, and nonverbal communication.

Virginia Tech leader named dean of Arts, Sciences, and Education
Dr. Mehrzad Boroujerdi has been named vice provost and dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) at Missouri S&T. Currently director of the School of Public and International Affairs at Virginia Tech, Boroujerdi will take over the position from Dr. Kate Drowne, who served as interim dean since 2019. His appointment will begin July 1.
