Changes coming to archives, search for archives librarian underway

The archives at Missouri S&T has grown since it was first established in 1978 to house the university’s historical records. In 2017, the archives will make history itself when an archives librarian, a full-time position, is added to the staff. The archives librarian will report to the library director. The archives has been staffed by a part-time employee and a faculty member serving as archivist in addition to his or her faculty responsibilities.

Donate suit, help students dress for success

The career opportunities and employer relations (COER) staff seeks donations for Missouri S&T’s suit closet. Donations contribute directly to S&T students who are in need of professional attire for interviews, career fairs, employer networking events and other professional development activities. Drop off donations at the COER office on the third floor of Norwood Hall, or contact Miranda Ham, student service coordinator, at 341-4577 to make other arrangements.

Faculty regalia rental orders due Dec. 1

Faculty members can rent regalia for commencement through the S&T Store. Please place your order by Thursday, Dec. 1, at the store, by calling 341-7522, or email. Submit email orders to Linda Watson, retail associate, with the following information: last name, first name, phone number, height in feet and inches, weight in pounds, and school information (name and location). Payment is due at time of pickup. Orders submitted after the Dec. 1 deadline will be subject to a late fee and an expedited shipping fee.

Survey open to entrepreneurs, business owners

Missouri S&T’s Small Business and Technology Development Center encourages business owners and entrepreneurs to complete a business needs survey by Sunday, Dec. 11. Results will be used to help shape the programs and support offered by the center. The survey will take approximately five minutes. It is open to the nine-county area served by the center: Crawford, Dent, Franklin, Gasconade, Maries, Miller, Osage, Phelps and Pulaski counties.

Undergrad mentors needed

The undergraduate advising office seeks Missouri S&T students for the On Track Academic Success Program. The five selected mentors will receive training the first week of the Spring 2017 semester. Eligible students are sophomores, juniors or seniors with a grade point average of at least 2.5.

Missouri S&T Police to film ‘active shooter’ video, extras needed

Missouri S&T’s Police Department, in conjunction with the S&T marketing and communications department, will film an instructional video on the S&T campus on three Sundays during November and December. The video is designed to teach members of the university community how to survive an attack by armed individuals. Extras are needed to play students. For consideration as an extra, please complete an online form by Thursday, Nov. 10.
