Hundreds of teachers drawn to campus for Project Lead The Way

The S&T campus is bustling with activity and learning this summer as approximately 600 elementary, middle and high school teachers from around the U.S. are visiting to learn how to better teach engineering, computer science and biomedical science. The teachers are involved in Project Lead The Way (PLTW), a national effort to get more youth interested in and prepared to study engineering and science related fields in college. Missouri S&T is the state affiliate for PLTW and offers teacher training in several science, technology and engineering fields.

Mandatory conflict-of-interest reporting due June 16

The deadline for employees to complete their conflict of interest reports has been extended to Friday, June 16. Please complete your report at https://ecompliance.umsystem.edu/mst. Due to a recent change to University of Missouri System’s Collected Rules and Regulations, all faculty and staff are now required to complete a conflict of interest report. The requirement was previously for exempt employees only but it now applies to everyone employed by the university: exempt and non-exempt employees and full-time and part-time employees.

Parking lot to close temporarily for campers’ fireworks display

Parking Area M, Lot 36, located near the Engineering Research Laboratory, will be closed Friday, June 16, and again Friday, June 23, for a fireworks display by Explosives Camp participants. The lot must by completely empty by 6 p.m. on these days to allow for the fireworks. Display set up will begin at approximately 2 p.m. each day.
