All faculty and staff instructors are invited to participate in an active learning video competition for Missouri S&T’s Teaching and Learning Technology (TLT) Conference. A few examples are online. Students start to sell the roses
Do you prefer your roses fresh or made of glass? Two student groups are selling Valentine’s Day gifts this week. The fundraisers include:
- The Gaffers Guild will sell handmade glass pieces, including flowers, hearts, vases and other one-of-a-kind artwork, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, and Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the commons area of McNutt Hall.
- The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will sell fresh roses 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, and Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Havener Center and the Curtis Laws Wilson Library.
Faculty to take the stage for talent show fundraiser
Missouri S&T’s Engineers Without Borders (EWB) student group will host a faculty and staff talent show to raise funds for the organization. The show starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, in Leach Theatre. Get more details on the EWB website.

A search committee has been created to assist in finding the next associate provost for faculty affairs at Missouri S&T, who will begin serving in that role Friday, June 1. The position will be a full-time equivalent (FTE) position with 80 percent of the time performing administrative duties as associate provost and 20 percent of the time serving as a faculty member in the individual’s home department. A Proposal Writing Bootcamp will be held 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, March 15 (during spring recess during St. Pat’s), in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. The workshop will feature program directors from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF) as well as presentations from the Broader Impacts Network. The Missouri S&T physical facilities staff will conduct flow tests on sprinkler systems in several buildings today (Monday, Feb. 12) and tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 13). You may notice crews in the following buildings: Bertelsmeyer Hall, Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall, Curtis Laws Wilson Library, Emerson Hall, Straumanis-James Hall and the Technology Development Center. Do you know who to contact if you are concerned about a student? One resource at Missouri S&T is care coordination. Care coordination involves advocacy, intervention and helping students. The main goal is to help students optimize their functioning and be as successful as possible. Students are welcome to visit with S&T’s care coordinator, Krista Morris-Lehman, about their concerns.

Missouri S&T will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) in October. Now is the time to provide feedback on materials created for the evaluation. You may also learn about the accreditation process and provide feedback at open forums. The open forums were previously announced and the times have been changed. The forums will be held:
- 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center
- 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center
- 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center
