Recommend students for Writing Center tutor positions

The Writing Center will hire undergraduate peer tutors to begin work in January 2016, and staff need your help in identifying qualified candidates. If you know any students who have strong writing and interpersonal skills, encourage them to apply. Applications from students in any discipline will be accepted. Ideal candidates expect to graduate no earlier than May 2017. Tutoring offers valuable educational and leadership experience in a relaxed but professional environment. Email the names of promising candidates to Jeanine Bruening by Friday, Oct. 30, and Writing Center staff will issue personal invitations to them.

Encourage Chancellor’s Leadership Academy applications

Chancellor’s Leadership Academy (CLA) applications are due by noon Friday, Oct. 30. If you know any first year students or international students within their first three semesters, please encourage them to apply. CLA allows students to develop their leadership skills, connect with industry leaders, and build and manage their own service project. Campus power being reset

Physical facilities is resetting campus equipment due to a power outage that occurred on Sunday, Oct. 11. Campus buildings may have brief heating or cooling issues throughout the day. Annual enrollment reminder

Active benefit-eligible faculty or staff members should complete annual enrollment in myHR between Monday, Oct. 19, and Friday, Oct. 30. This year, you can enjoy a $50 discount on your monthly insurance premiums if you attest to being tobacco free or enroll in a tobacco cessation program. If you do not complete annual enrollment by the deadline, you will default into the Healthy Savings Plan on an after-tax basis, and you will not receive the tobacco-free premium discount.
