The final Faculty First Friday lunch of the semester will be held Friday, May 6. These informal lunches provide an opportunity to network and share ideas with faculty colleagues and university administration. The brown-bag lunch will be held noon-1 p.m. at Hasselmann Alumni House, located at 1100 N. Pine St. Participants should bring their own lunch, and the chancellor’s office will provide drinks and desserts. The next lunch will be held on Friday, Sept. 2.

Douglas P. Roberts, assistant special agent in charge for the St. Louis Field Office of the U.S. Secret Service, has been named chief of University Police at Missouri S&T. He replaces Raymon Bogart, who had served in an interim role since former Chief Christine Laughlin retired in 2015. Roberts’ position takes effect June 1.

Visitation for Dr. Steven L. Grant, the Roy A. Wilkens Missouri Telecommunications Professor in electrical and computer engineering at Missouri S&T, will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 2, at Null and Son Funeral Home, located at 1010 Kingshighway in Rolla. Dr. Grant’s Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Rolla. Interment will follow the mass at Rolla Cemetery.

The College of Engineering and Computing will host an ice cream social to thank its students for the past year’s hard work. All students are welcome to attend and enjoy ice cream sundaes from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the Puck. In case of inclement weather, the ice cream social will move to the Burns & McDonnell Student Success Center in Toomey Hall.

The Focus on Teaching and Technology Conference (FTTC) planning committee invites you to submit a proposal for the 2016 conference, which will be held Nov. 3-4 at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The committee is seeking presenters who can offer both a vision of the impact and importance of their topic and concrete, practical examples of real-world implementation. The Academy of Engineering Management hosted its spring meeting on Friday, April 22. The academy meeting concluded with the engineering management and systems engineering honors luncheon, which included the department’s annual awards. The following awards were presented:

A celebration of life for Wanda Davis, former employee of the residential life facilities and operations department, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, in pavilion 10 of Lions Club Park, located at 1061 S. Bishop Ave. A potluck dinner will follow the service. Davis died on Monday, April 18. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Rolla Mercy Oncology Clinic.
