McMillin speaks on the role of education in cybersecurity

Dr. Bruce McMillin, associate dean of the College of Engineering and Computing and a professor of computer science, recently spoke at the Missouri Governor’s Cybersecurity Summit. McMillin presented “The Role of Education in Cybersecurity” with two other Missouri school representatives. The session aimed to provide an overview of the role education is playing in cybersecurity and shared resources to help bolster skills within various organizations.

MAE centennial seminar features Oak Ridge National Laboratory director

Mechanical and aerospace engineering is starting off its Centennial Seminar Series with a lecture from Dr. Robert M. Wagner, director of the Fuels, Engines and Emissions Research Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The seminar will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in Room 140 Toomey Hall. His lecture is titled “Directions in High Efficiency Research and Future Fuel Opportunities.” This seminar is open to all students, faculty and staff who are interested.

Missouri S&T recently launched Rave Guardian, a free mobile app that turns your smartphone into a personal safety device. By downloading Rave Guardian on your mobile device, you can invite friends and family to join your network as your “Guardians.” Once you have established who you want to be your Guardians, you can request one or more of them to virtually walk with you on or off campus. It’s like having a trusted friend with you at all times. See more information online.
