There will be a power outage 6-8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, in Parker Hall. Due to an equipment upgrade, the entire electrical system will be turned off during this time. Building occupants should turn off all electrical equipment the evening of Monday, Nov. 25, before leaving for the day. During the outage, there will be no light, elevator or computer usage. Applications for the Administrative Leadership Development Program (ALDP) need to be submitted by Friday, Dec. 6. Find more information, including the ALDP brochure and applications, online. This deadline will enable the program to avoid the holiday season and allow a better schedule for the participants’ pre-retreat work.

Register to participate in a day of service that commemorates Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. MLK Day of Service 2014 will be held Monday, Jan. 20. Participants will be served a hot breakfast, followed by a call to action. Volunteers will be split into groups and provide service to community partners in need in the Phelps County area. The S&T athletic department will show the Lady Miner’s volleyball match against Indianapolis in the first round of the GLVC Tournament at noon Friday, Nov. 22, in the Hall of Fame Room on the lower level of the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. Any faculty or staff member that is interested in watching the match is welcome to stop by and cheer on the team. The match will be broadcast live from Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.

Miner Challenge is spreading holiday cheer this year by hosting a bake sale and pictures with Santa. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, on the second floor of the Havener Center in the student life commons. There will be treats, Christmas music and pictures with Santa Claus. Items in the bake sale will vary in costs between $.50 and $3, pictures with Santa will be $5 per print and donations will also be accepted. Pictures are printed on-site and emailed to you if you’d like. If you’d prefer a photo without Santa, you can have a family picture taken with a winter backdrop.
