Chancellor’s holiday reception today
Staff Council is teaming up with Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader in an effort to “can hunger.” On Monday, Dec. 8, Chancellor Schrader and her husband, Jeff Schrader, will host a holiday reception for Missouri S&T faculty and staff members. Visitors are encouraged to bring a canned food item to the reception.

Staff Council picked up and delivered approximately 55 boxes of toys, clothes and food for GRACE this year. Monetary collections brought in $678, which includes $322 from engineering management and systems engineering’s chili cook-off. Staff Council thanks everyone for the support in making this year’s collection a success.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will visit campus this afternoon to tour Schrenk Hall, which has been identified as S&T’s top priority for capital funding. The governor will tour portions of the building, followed by a news conference at approximately 1:10 p.m. in Room 141 Schrenk Hall.

The deadline to get a new MinerCard at no cost has been extended until Friday, Jan. 30. All students, faculty and staff are eligible to receive one new MinerCard at no cost if their current card is surrendered. Students, faculty and staff who do not have their current card will pay a $15 replacement fee.

Dr. Jerry Frank, assistant professor of history at the University of Missouri-Columbia, will present a seminar titled “Playing With Western Water: The Culture and Science of Invasive Species” at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in Room 125, Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Missouri S&T’s history and political science department and the Environmental Research Center are co-hosting the seminar.
