2015 PRO Leaders selected
Congratulations to the student leaders who have been selected to represent Missouri S&T as 2015 PRO Leaders. PRO Leaders work together as a team to provide student input and actively assist in the production of S&T’s comprehensive Preview, Registration and Orientation: Opening Week, Project X, missions, mentors, transfer transitions and more. Three Missouri S&T faculty have been named IEEE Fellows. This titled is awarded in recognition of the person’s contributions to their field. The honor is the highest grade of membership in the organization.

The student financial assistance (SFA) office has made changes to its services. Students can now stop by and speak to a financial aid counselor during walk-in hours from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Chronicle of Higher Education is available to the campus community through the Curtis Laws Wilson Library. While on the campus network, users can go to http://chronicle.com. While off-campus, users can access the library website and connect to the A-Z Electronic Journals list. Jane O’Keefe, wife of the late Dr. Thomas O’Keefe, Curators’ Professor of metallurgical engineering, died on Wednesday, Jan. 7. A visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at James and Gahr Mortuary of Rolla. A funeral mass is planned for 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. Dr. Bassem Armaly, Curators’ Professor emeritus of mechanical and aerospace engineering and former chair of the mechanical and aerospace engineering department, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, at age 77. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of James and Gahr Mortuary.

The spring 2015 Faculty Events Calendar, which includes professional development events related to research, teaching and learning, is now available on the Center for Educational Research and Teaching Innovation (CERTI) website. The calendar includes events offered by a variety of Missouri S&T offices including sponsored programs, new faculty programs, educational technology, undergraduate advising and CERTI.
Read More »New mileage reimbursement rates
Effective Jan. 1, Missouri S&T’s mileage reimbursement rate for business miles driven in 2015 will be 54.5 cents per mile. Additionally, the university will reimburse moving expenses at 20.0 cents per mile. The mileage rate in the travel and expense system has been updated to reflect the new rate and employee expense reports that include miles driven after Jan. 1, 2015, will automatically be reimbursed at the new rate.
