Flags at half-staff effective immediately

By order of Gov. Jay Nixon, all flags at Missouri state and government offices will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset effective immediately in honor of State Auditor Thomas A. Schweich, who died today. The order shall remain in effect until sunset on the date of his interment, which will be announced at a future time.

Alcohol screening to be offered March 4

Eighty-seven percent of Missouri S&T students know where their drinks have been at all times. Seventy-nine percent of S&T students use a designated driver. Next week there will be a free alcohol screening 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in the Havener Center atrium. This screening is a head’s up reminder to students about healthy choices. The event is sponsored by counseling, disability support and student wellness. Encourage a student to be screened.

Almyra Gargus to retire on April 1

Almyra Gargus, office support assistant III in facilities operations, will retire on Wednesday, April 1. Her last working day will be Friday, Feb. 27. She has made many acquaintances over the years and would like to say farewell to all the campus community. Gargus retires with 28 years of service at Missouri S&T.
