The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded Missouri S&T $2.6 million to increase the adoption of advanced manufacturing technology, including AI, robotics, automation, biomanufacturing, advanced materials and additive manufacturing.

The award will support Missouri S&T’s newly established Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center. S&T’s center will join the MEP National Network, whose nearly 1,400 advisers and experts work at more than 450 service locations across the U.S. to help small- and medium-sized manufacturers adopt advanced technology and remain competitive.

The new center builds on the Missouri Protoplex, S&T’s advanced manufacturing facility, which already connects researchers, students and industry partners with manufacturers across the state.
