Nobel Peace Prize winner to present climate change presentation Oct. 13

Learn about the effects of climate change in the Great Lakes region during a presentation by Dr. Don Wuebbles, professor emeritus of atmospheric science at the University of Illinois and a contributor to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

Wuebbles will present “Our Changing Climate: Impacts in the Great Lakes Region” at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Room 120 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The presentation will be delivered online to Missouri S&T students. The event is free and open to the public.

Wuebbles will discuss extreme weather events associated with climate change and explore strategies to slow and mitigate climate-related challenges.

Those unable to attend in person may join via Zoom.

An expert in atmospheric physics and chemistry, Wuebbles has authored more than 600 scientific publications on climate, air quality and the stratospheric ozone layer. He served as assistant director for climate science at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy from 2015 to 2017 and currently serves as director of climate science for Earth Knowledge Inc.
