Dr. Mohamed ElGawady, a professor of civil engineering and Alard and Sheri Kaplan Faculty Scholar, has been named a Curators’ Distinguished Professor.
The University of Missouri Board of Curators awards this title to honor outstanding professors, call attention to teaching excellence and foster improvements in teaching and learning.
ElGawady’s research focuses on improving the safety and resilience of bridges and other infrastructure under extreme conditions, including earthquakes and vehicle impacts. His work combines large-scale experimental testing and computational modeling to understand structural behavior, assess damage and develop effective repair methods.
