September is National Suicide Prevention Month — is a nationwide effort to raise awareness, reduce stigma and connect people to life saving resources.
September is Suicide Prevention Month. Faculty and staff are encouraged to complete the free Ask. Listen. Refer. online training to learn how to recognize warning signs, respond to someone who may be struggling and connect them with support resources.
Faculty and staff who are concerned about a student can submit a UCARE referral. UCARE provides support for students experiencing academic, personal or well-being challenges. Referrals may be submitted online, by calling 573-341-4211, emailing wellbeing@mst.edu, or visiting student well-being in Room G1 Parker Hall.
Individuals experiencing a mental health crisis can call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, a free and confidential service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
