Marco Cavaglià named chair of physics

Dr. Marco Cavaglià has been named chair of the physics department, effective Monday, Aug. 3. He takes over the position from Dr. Thomas Vojta, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of physics, who is returning to a faculty position after serving as chair since 2018.

Cavaglià joined S&T in 2019 and is a professor of physics. His expertise includes multi-messenger astrophysics, experimental and theoretical gravitational physics, and astrophysics. His research interests include the theory and detection of gravitational waves, classical and quantum models of gravity, astrophysics and cosmology, and quantum field theory.
