Seven Missouri S&T student teams showcased interactive toy designs during the Miner Creativity Challenge finals on April 29, an initiative that engages students in developing hands-on STEAM learning experiences for children ages 8-11.

Top honors from both judges and the children’s choice vote went to the “Cymatic Sandbox” team, which developed a sound-based device that creates visual patterns through vibration. Additional awards recognized projects focused on magnetism, robotics and magnetic levitation, with winners selected by judges, participating students and the campus community.

The challenge is sponsored by Kummer Student Programs, with support from the Makers Studio, and includes participation from local elementary students who test the designs.
