Students in Missouri S&T’s cooperative engineering program with Missouri State University (MSU) earned multiple top placements at the IEEE Region 5 Annual Conference held earlier this spring in Boulder, Colorado.

Twelve students from Missouri S&T and MSU competed together in four events: circuits, robotics, cyber and the 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.

Competition results included:

  • Circuits: First place
  • Robotics: Third place in the freelance category; fourth place overall
  • Cyber: Tied for fifth place.

Dr. Theresa Odun-Ayo, director of the cooperative engineering program and an S&T associate teaching professor of electrical and computer engineering, also received the IEEE Region 5 Member Achievement Award during the conference. This honor was in recognition of her professional service and contributions to IEEE student engagement as the MSU IEEE student chapter advisor and student activities chair for the local IEEE section.

S&T student participants included:

Circuits

  • Aiden Seiler, a junior in electrical engineering
  • Jordan Neal, a junior in electrical engineering

Robotics

  • Ryan Kidd, a senior in electrical engineering
  • Cooper Martin, a senior in electrical engineering

Cyber

  • Tyler Mills, a senior in electrical engineering.
