Dr. Ming C. Leu, the Keith and Pat Bailey Missouri Professor and Curators’ Distinguished Professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, has been appointed associate vice chancellor for research and innovation. He will begin his duties Monday, June 1.
Leu is recognized internationally for research in sustainable additive manufacturing and for advancing manufacturing technologies critical to aerospace applications.
He joined S&T in 1999 after serving as a program director at the National Science Foundation. In 2004, Leu founded the Center for Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies (CAMT) in partnership with Boeing, with initial funding from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. He established the CAMT Industrial Consortium in 2007.
As associate vice chancellor for research and innovation, Leu will support strategic initiatives aligned with Strategic Focus Area 4: Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. His responsibilities will include assisting faculty with major research proposals and providing oversight of sponsored programs, compliance and proposal development. He will also work closely with faculty across STEM and non-STEM disciplines to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthen partnerships with industry.
