Kurt Schaefer, director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will present updates on department activities and discuss STEM‑related career opportunities 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, in Room 125 of Butler‑Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. A meet-and-greet will follow.

The presentation will include information on career paths and opportunities in:

  • Energy and geology: Field and research work supporting sustainable industry growth, energy development and critical mineral innovation.
  • Environmental quality: Protection of air, land and water resources through work in microbiology, chemistry and environmental sciences.
  • State parks and historic sites: Hands‑on roles in civil engineering, planning, archaeology, history and construction focused on preservation and accessibility.
