A planned power outage is scheduled 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, to install new electrical equipment supporting capital projects for the Applied Research Center (ARC), Schrenk Hall and the Welcome Center. A separate brief outage from 6-7 a.m. that morning will support ARC‑related work and will only affect Emerson Hall, Fulton Hall and the Physics Building.

Note: Centennial Hall was initially included in the outage plan, but will have power on March 24 and will not be affected by the outage.

Buildings that will be without power and inaccessible March 24 include:

  • Castleman Hall
  • Chancellor’s Residence
  • Computer Science Building
  • Curtis Laws Wilson Library
  • Harris Hall
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Rolla Building
  • Schrenk Hall
  • Straumanis-James Geothermal Plant
  • Straumanis-James Hall
  • Toomey Hall
  • Welcome Center.

These buildings will be locked down and inaccessible during the outage on March 24. There will be no power, no network access and no card access.

Please shut down all computers and equipment by the end of the workday  Monday, March 23, to prevent data loss and avoid potential equipment issues when power is restored. Any meetings or events scheduled in these spaces should be relocated.

Supervisors in the affected buildings are encouraged to communicate the building inaccessibility to their teams and work with employees to identify alternate work options, including remote work where appropriate. For more information, visit Supervisor Guidance for Planned Outages – Facility Planning and Operations.

For questions, please contact Heath House, senior manager of facilities operations, or Greg Snelson, construction manager.
