Missouri S&T alumna and member of the S&T Academy of Civil Engineers Nancy Matteoni will speak about her work on major St. Louis infrastructure projects at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall.

Matteoni will highlight her contributions to projects like the new Chester Bridge, the national-award‑winning Deer Creek Tunnel and Pump Station, and the reconstruction of U.S. Interstate 64. She will also discuss her career path in design and construction and share insights on changes she has seen in the industry.

Matteoni is the 2026 Chapter Honor Member for Chi Epsilon, the national civil engineering honor society.

About Matteoni

Matteoni graduated from S&T with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1990 and began her career as one of two female engineers in Sverdrup’s bridge department in St. Louis. When Jacobs acquired Sverdrup in 1998, she continued her bridge engineering work there until joining Horner & Shifrin in 2005. She contributed to multiple structures on the New I‑64 design‑build project as a subconsultant engineer.

In 2008, she joined Parsons as a design engineer for construction phase services on I‑64 and has since worked on both design and construction management for major regional projects. Her leadership on the Deer Creek Tunnel and Pump Station helped the project earn the 2025 Engineering Excellence Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies at the Engineering Excellence Awards.
