S&T IT continues to enhance the university’s network infrastructure and has tentatively planned a major network upgrade from 8 a.m. Saturday, March 21, through 5 p.m. Sunday, March 22. During this work, all network services, including the internet, phones, access systems and alarms, will be temporarily unavailable. To minimize disruption, the upgrade is scheduled for a low-activity day.

The upgrade is part of the ongoing IT network modernization effort to create a more secure, reliable and efficient network and ensures the campus network can better support critical systems, research operations and campus safety.
What will happen?
During the upgrade, network services will be temporarily unavailable. Researchers and lab staff should ensure experiments or monitoring systems are properly paused or secured prior to the outage. IT staff will closely monitor implementation progress and restore services as quickly as possible.
When will it happen?
The network upgrade and outages are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22. More detailed communication with confirmed timing and specific instructions will be shared as the date approaches.
