Dr. Kelley Wilkerson, associate teaching professor of materials science and engineering, was named associate dean of undergraduate education for the College of Engineering and Computing at S&T.
Wilkerson earned bachelor’s and Ph.D. degrees in ceramic engineering from S&T in 2007 and 2012, respectively.
She joined the S&T faculty in 2018 and has taught Materials Senior Design I and II and Atomic Structure of Crystalline Materials, in addition to leading multiple ceramics and materials laboratories. Wilkerson has served as faculty advisor for the Materials Advantage student organization and helped students establish the Ceramic Artists of S&T (CAST) club in 2020.
Wilkerson has led the Summer Engineering Research Academy, directed the Jackling Introduction to Engineering Summer Camp, and organized numerous recruiting and outreach initiatives. Her work also includes developing new curriculum at the intersection of materials science and artificial intelligence, supporting faculty development as a peer reviewer, and contributing to the university’s ADVANCE (now Faculty Success) and KEEN programs, which are focused on student success and entrepreneurial mindset.
