Dr. Kathleen Sheppard, professor of history and political science, was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Egypt Exploration Society (EES) at the end of November. She is their first and only American Trustee.

Sheppard will serve at least one three-year term and help guide the society through major changes over the next 5 to 10 years, including renovating its historic headquarters at Doughty Mews in London, and renewing the presence of the EES in Cairo.

Founded in 1882, the Egypt Exploration Society (EES) is the United Kingdom’s leading charity supporting and promoting Egyptian cultural heritage. Today, the EES facilitates research projects worldwide and relies almost entirely on donations from international members and the wider public to fund the work.
