Missouri S&T has appointed Montrice O’Neal as dean of students. He began his role Monday, Jan. 5.
O’Neal brings more than a decade of leadership experience in student affairs, including roles as dean of students, vice president of student life, associate dean of campus engagement and director of student engagement. His work has centered on student success, leadership development and building collaborative support systems.
In his first year at S&T, O’Neal plans to connect with students and campus partners, learn the needs of the Miner community, and review key processes to ensure they are transparent, equitable and responsive. He is particularly focused on strengthening student support structures and enhancing conduct and care processes.
“Missouri S&T students are innovators and problem-solvers,” he says. “My goal is to help ensure they have the resources, guidance and community they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.”
He also emphasizes the importance of intentional collaboration across campus, including academic affairs, student engagement, counseling, residential life and campus safety — to support students holistically.
“I want students to know that I am here to listen and support them as they pursue their goals,” O’Neal says. “Their success and well-being are central to everything we do.”
