The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has named Jacob Hauck, a Ph.D. student in computational and applied mathematics, as a recipient of the 2025 DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Award.

Hauck, of St. Louis, is the first Missouri S&T mathematics and statistics graduate student to earn the award.

According to the SCGSR website, the honor provides selected students with pathways to advance thesis research while working at a DOE national laboratory, collaborate with world-class scientists and use state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge scientific instrumentation.
