Spike in bike, scooter thefts reported

University Police report an increase in bike and scooter thefts, particularly those not locked to bike racks. Surveillance cameras have captured incidents, but delayed reporting gives thieves a head start. A suspect was arrested last week, and a stolen scooter was recovered, yet thefts continue.
Campus community members are urged to secure bikes and scooters with locks appropriate to their value. Report suspicious activity near bike racks or anyone using lock-cutting tools to University Police immediately.
