Dr. Patrick Chapman, co-founder and CEO of Stormentum, a leader in power electronics, systems engineering, energy storage, renewable energy, intellectual property and entrepreneurship, will speak at S&T as part of the Kummer Keynote Speaker Series 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, in Room B10 Bertelsmeyer Hall. The talk is open and free to all students, faculty and staff.

Chapman earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from S&T in 1996 and 1997, respectively. He also earned a Ph.D. from Purdue in 2000 and spent about a decade on the faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He will speak about his path, from his time in Rolla to turning a spark of an idea into a product on a roof, what he learned moving between university labs and startups, and how home energy is evolving as batteries join the mix.

The Kummer Keynote Speaker Series brings accomplished leaders to campus to share lessons in technology, entrepreneurship and leadership. Each event includes time for Q&A and networking.
