It’s that time of year again. University Police is raising funds during November for the annual Cops Care and Shop with a Cop program. Be on alert for the traveling “Chief Roberts” (a cardboard cutout of University Police Chief Doug Roberts).

For a minimum $20 donation, Roberts will pick up this imposter and take it to another department of your choice. Call University Police at 573-341-4300 to donate or make arrangements to remove the cutout. Departments are encouraged to take photographs with the cutout and consider adding holiday decorations.

Donations can also be made at Scruff’s Grill or American Taco Co., where participants can spin the Chief Roberts or Captain Kemp wheel of prizes. Last year, University Police raised $5,000, which sponsored 40 children.

Shop with a Cop pairs local school children with a local police officer to shop for holiday gifts. This year, 220 children will participate, and each will receive up to $125 to spend.

For more information, contact Roberts at 573-341-4300 or robertsdp@mst.edu.
