What’s your role at S&T?

I work on the IT desktop engineering team, primarily responsible for overseeing the software packaging team and managing the AppsAnywhere service on campus. I first came to S&T as a student in fall 2015, and then got a student position in IT. In October of 2018, I was offered a full-time position in IT. From there I finished my degree part time, finally graduating with a bachelor of science in computer science in May of 2022.

What inspired you to join Staff Council?

As a student here I was involved with several student organizations and was a member of Student Council. Once I graduated, I was interested in other ways to stay similarly involved and help improve campus.

What is your role on Staff Council, and what responsibilities does it involve?

I am the chair of the Advocacy Committee. The Advocacy Committee is responsible for overseeing the Staff Council employee scholarships, employee excellence awards, supporting professional development, and addressing concerns and grievances that get reported to Staff Council.

What advice would you give someone just starting at S&T?

Be a part of the community and get involved. We have a ton of events on campus for faculty, staff and students. It’s a great way to connect with other groups across campus and feel more included in the campus community.

What’s one thing you absolutely must have at your desk and why?

I have a stack of 4×6 dry erase index cards and some expo markers that I use all the time. They are great for taking quick notes and keeping around for the various projects I have going on, without burning through stacks of sticky notes.

What’s something about you that most people don’t know – whether it’s unique, unexpected, or just a little quirky?

I am one of the advisors of Humans vs. Zombies, the student organization that runs the game with the green bandanas where everyone runs around throwing socks at each other.
