Remembering Dr. J. David Rogers

Dr. J. David Rogers, professor emeritus of geological engineering, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 23. He joined Missouri S&T in 2001 as the Karl F. Hasselmann Chair of Geological Engineering and retired in 2023.
At S&T, Rogers managed the master’s program in military geological engineering for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, created online engineering courses, and continued consulting on major projects, including studies of the New Orleans levee failures.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Grace Bible Church, located at 902 Arkansas Ave. in Rolla. There will also be a Celebration of Life planned later in California.
