The faculty success unit within faculty affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of several faculty to new roles. Faculty Fellows and Luce Professors were selected through a competitive application process that took place in spring 2025.
Three faculty members have been selected as Faculty Fellows to serve throughout the 2025-26 school year:
- Dr. Shannon Fogg, professor and chair of history and political science. Fogg’s fellowship project is titled “Work-Life Liaisons and Optional Affinity Meetings for On-Campus Faculty Interviews: Recruiting and Retaining Faculty at Missouri S&T.” Fogg will develop a program to train work-life liaisons to serve as an optional resource for faculty candidate finalists, allowing those candidates to learn more about topics such as dual career options, childcare, and university and community resources in a confidential setting during their campus visit.
- Dr. Risheng Wang, professor of chemistry. Wang’s fellowship project is titled “Coaching Forward: Building an Inclusive Faculty Support and Recruitment Network.” Wang’s project will establish a sustainable, cross-departmental faculty coaching network to equip faculty to serve as peer coaches and guide improvements in recruitment, onboarding and retention practices at S&T.
- Dr. Grace Yan, professor of civil, architectural, and environmental engineering. Yan’s fellowship project is titled “Creating the ‘Share, Shine, Shine’ Program for Enhancing Faculty Recognition.” Yan will develop a program to help prepare faculty for national and international award submissions as well as use social media platforms to promote faculty work and increase their exposure and visibility.
Faculty success is also pleased to announce the selection of three Clare Boothe Luce Professors, funded by the Henry Luce Foundation, whose efforts contribute to providing a welcoming and supportive campus climate for all. Each Luce professor will lead initiatives and support programs that will make Missouri S&T a destination of choice, including programs focused on mentorship training, dependent-care support, faculty recruitment practices, faculty fellowships, programs for departments to develop supportive policies and leadership development workshops. The Clare Boothe Luce professors are:
- Dr. Melanie Mormile, professor of biological sciences
- Dr. Sahra Sedigh Sarvestani, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering
- Dr. Kelley Wilkerson, associate teaching professor of materials science and engineering.
