The College of Engineering and Computing named 11 Dean’s Undergraduate Research Scholars for the fall 2025 semester. They include:
- Quinten Bachman, a senior in chemical engineering. Bachman’s advisor is Dr. Amber Pete, assistant professor in the Linda and Bipin Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.
- Parker Barnes, a junior in aerospace engineering. Barnes’ advisor is Dr. Phillip Mulligan, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
- Christopher Beck, a senior in nuclear engineering and applied mathematics. Beck’s advisor is Dr. Tayfun Akyurek, assistant professor of nuclear engineering and radiation science.
- Katherine Dunlap, a senior in electrical engineering. Dunlap’s advisor is Dr. Kristen Donnell, Woodard Associate Professor of Excellence in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
- Tate Friedrich, a senior in mechanical engineering. Friedrich’s advisor is Dr. Catherine Johnson, Robert H. Quenon associate professor of mining and explosives engineering.
- Christy Johnson, a senior in environmental engineering. Johnson’s advisor is Dr. Hunter Schroer, assistant professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering.
- Hossein Libre, a junior in ceramic engineering and chemistry. Libre’s advisor is Dr. Greg Hilmas, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of materials science and engineering.
- Aary Patel, a junior in aerospace engineering. Patel’s advisor is Dr. Xiaosong Du, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
- Jana Rawashdeh, a senior in computer science. Rawashdeh’s advisor is Dr. Mohamed Nafea, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering.
- Hugh Steinman, a senior in mechanical engineering. Steinman’s advisor is Dr. Zhi Liang, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
- Yev Vainerman, a junior in computer science. Vainerman’s advisor is Dr. Mohamed Nafea, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering.
The scholars receive a $2,000 scholarship and a $500 budget for research-related expenses each semester for up to two semesters. They must be enrolled full time and maintain a 3.4 GPA to qualify.
