Bob Brinkmann, founder of Brinkmann Constructors and a 1971 civil engineering graduate of Missouri S&T, received the 2025 Kit Bond Citizen Leadership Award from the Hawthorn Foundation for Missouri.
The award, named after former U.S. Sen. Kit Bond, recognizes leaders who promote economic prosperity across Missouri. Gov. Mike Kehoe presented the award, and former Gov. Mike Parson spoke. Brinkmann was recognized for his leadership in the $2.8 billion Interstate 70 expansion project during his service as chair of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. The project is expected to be completed by 2030.
Brinkmann has served on the Missouri S&T Board of Trustees, including two years as president, and was part of the 2016 Alumni of Influence class. He and his wife, Kim, have hosted fundraising events for S&T student design teams, and Brinkmann has regularly shared career insights with engineering seniors.
