Dr. Clayton Lungstrum, assistant teaching professor of mathematics, was chosen to be the 2025-26 faculty fellow in online learning and educational innovation (OLEI).

This newly launched fellowship program offers faculty the opportunity to collaborate with OLEI to advance innovative, high-quality digital learning experiences throughout S&T. Fellows serve as liaisons between faculty and OLEI, support asynchronous online course development, and contribute to universitywide strategic initiatives in teaching and learning innovation.

“Dr. Lungstrum’s creativity and passion for advancing digital education made him an outstanding choice for this inaugural fellowship,” says Dr. Debra Bourdeau, vice provost for online learning and educational innovation. “We look forward to working with him to strengthen Missouri S&T’s leadership in online education.”

Lungstrum has already made a significant impact on online learning at Missouri S&T. He served as the faculty developer for MATH 1214: Calculus I, a fully asynchronous course that provides students with flexible, accessible pathways to success in mathematics. His work on MATH 1214 is a model for the types of engaging, evidence-based online courses the faculty fellow program seeks to promote.
