On Wednesday, July 9, Gov. Mike Kehoe signed Missouri Senate Bill 89, which officially designates Veterans Day (Nov. 11) as a paid holiday for all University of Missouri System employees. S&T has updated its academic calendar accordingly.

Faculty Senate also approved a revised schedule for fall break, which will now be observed Friday, Oct. 10, through Sunday, Oct. 12. This replaces the former Thursday–Sunday schedule and allows recognition of Veterans Day as a paid holiday without adding instructional days.

Note that this calendar update may impact students’ preplanned travel or personal arrangements. Students with prior travel plans for Thursday, Oct. 9, should communicate directly with their instructors. For longer absences, students have been guided to use the absence notification process through the Dean of Students.

Thank you for your flexibility and support as we implement these changes to honor Veterans Day.
