Dr. Shelley D. Minteer, founding director of the Kummer Institute Center for Resource Sustainability and professor of chemistry, earned the 2026 Manuel M. Baizer Award from the Electrochemical Society (ECS). The award honors outstanding contributions to the field of organic and biological electrochemistry.

Minteer says the ECS presents this award for contributions to electrosynthesis, which is a method of synthesizing chemical compounds using electricity.

The ECS will host an award ceremony and day-long symposium in Minteer’s honor during the week of May 24, 2026, at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. She will give a talk before the symposium.
