Dr. Daniel B. Oerther, professor of environmental health engineering in civil, architectural and environmental engineering, was selected to serve on the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s consensus committee – Education for Thriving in a Changing Climate.

Over the coming year, this committee will review evidence on how education can help individuals and communities understand and respond to the impacts of a changing climate. The group will also identify gaps in current research and develop a research agenda to address these needs. Oerther is one of 16 experts chosen to contribute to the committee’s final report.

Oerther’s previous involvement with the National Academies includes participation in the 2005 and 2015 Keck Futures Initiative, the 2011 Frontiers in Engineering Program, and the 2014 Jefferson Science Fellowship.

More information about the committee’s work is available on the National Academies project website.
