Alexander Touami, a senior in chemistry, was awarded the Missouri S&T University Police Lifesaving Award for his remarkable act of bravery and quick thinking on Thursday, March 13.
Near Interstate 44, Touami witnessed a visitor on campus being struck by a semi-truck and left critically injured in the roadway. Without hesitation and with disregard for his own safety, Touami ran into oncoming traffic to reach the individual. He pulled the injured person to safety, called 911, and stayed by their side, providing vital information to first responders and supporting the individual until medical help arrived.
